It is said that Copenhagen is the most bicycle-friendly city in the world, and that’s here where the scene was set for the most famous cycling race on Earth - the Tour de France. Nine Danes out of ten own a bicycle that we use on a daily basis.

Experience the Tour de France route in Copenhagen 

In 2022, the Tour de France started the "Grand Départ" in Copenhagen - the tenth country to host the Grand Départ of the Tour de France.

And not only did the Tour de France 2022 start in Denmark, but it was also a Dane winning the Tour de France 2022, Jonas Vingegaard. When you take into consideration that Denmark's highest point is just 173m above sea level, it makes the achievement even more fantastic - or incredible, as Jonas would say!

We had 3 stages of the Tour de France here in Denmark – 1 in Copenhagen and 2 others in the southern part of the country.

It is possible to experience the route of the Tour de France "Grand Départ", as we have walking tours where we will walk all 13 kilometers which will take between 3 and 4 hours, and/or we can walk a part of the route (2.5 – 3 hours) where we will see the highlights on the route such as:

• The town hall
• The harbour area
• The Parliaments building – Christiansborg Palace
• The queens winter residence, Amalienborg Palace
• The little Mermaid
• The Zitadelle
